Cooking with family

I love to cook. It’s a passion of mine and it started with my love for cooking shows with my dad years ago. The Galloping Gourmet and Julia Child made me love the kitchen and the beautiful plates of fun foods.

My love for cooking helped me get through a lot of tough years when I found out I couldn’t eat gluten, dairy or eggs. I had to experiment with many recipes that I loved and then my family had to be the guinea pigs for each new recipe. When you find out you are not able to enjoy all your favorite foods anymore you find a way to create those using healthier ingredients that help your body feel better. They can taste even better!.

Some of my favorite meals I create for my family are usually simple one pot recipes like a Thai inspired soup, or a taco style dinner and we also love a barbecued salmon dinner. It just takes a little preparing and then a glass of wine helps you enjoy the whole experience even more.

Start with an easy meal! Make a big pot of chili using cans of tomatoes and cans of black beans and or kidney beans. Add sautéed onions and green peppers with a chopped sweet potato. Then add cumin, chili powder, oregano, salt and pepper. Cook all day and enjoy with corn tortillas, avocados and green onions.

Cheers to cooking with your family!
