What if you stepped into your kitchen and created a meal that tastes so good and actually looked like you ordered it at a restaurant? Its actually quite simple. The secret is buying colorful vegetable and adding herbs to your dishes. My favorite way of cooking is taking a few fun ingredients that helps fuel my body, tastes good and looks yummy and colorful.
How to do this? Add layers of flavors and ingredients. It might take a few times to perfect. If you don’t feel that brave with herbs buy a healthy jar or can of sauce and just add veggies, protein, pasta or rice. I love adding potatoes to many recipes and skip the rices and pastas. You can buy many ingredients in the frozen isle and just cook them all up and add sauce and its a meal.
Try these ideas for anyone trying to create meals in a hurry:
- Saute potatoes with brussel sprouts and some onions. Add some garlic and salt and a protein like vegan sausage and you have a meal that is easy, comforting and full of goodness.
- Open a can of good tomatoes that are pureed with a jar of an easy flavorful sauce and combine. Toss some spinach and mushrooms and serve over a grain free pasta. You can add a healthy protein too.
- Did you know a salmon fillet can be cooked in less than 15 minutes with some easy seasoning like dill and garlic? Add a baked potato or quinoa with asparagus and it’s a perfect dinner for a friday night.
- Breakfasts can be super fun and easy. Try healthy granola and pour almond milk and add blueberries. Or spoon almond yogurt or coconut yogurt into a bowl and top with granola and berries. Drizzle a little nut butter on top and it’s even better!
- Soups can be made with just with healthy broths you buy at a store with a spice mix and simmered vegetables. I love to add chunks of sweet potatoes or butternut squash to fast easy soup to add color.
- Warm salads are comforting and easy plus full of the best nutrients! Add to a bowl full of chopped greens (not iceberg), mushrooms, green onions, red bell pepper, carrots, celery, warm red potatoes and warm quinoa. Toss with olive oil and balsamic and its perfection!
So many easy fun meals to create that are healthy!
